MDA Summer Camp 2003

2003 MDA Summer Camp Pictures

Heber, Summer 2003.  This magical place is called the Arizona Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camp. Held each year in Heber, it's a place where Arizona kids and young adults ages 6 to 21 afflicted with any of the 43 forms of muscular dystrophy can go and be regular kids for a week.

It's a place where they can temporarily forget about the terrible disease that's slowly and relentlessly tearing down their muscles until they can no longer walk and, in many cases, no longer breathe.

MDA camp offers a wide range of activities especially designed for kids with neuromuscular diseases — from swimming, boating, baseball, soccer and horseback riding to less physically demanding programs like arts and crafts and talent shows. And the best thing about it is that it's free.  To find out how you can help, please click on the ERA/MDA logo to the left.

2003 Whiskey Row Marathon Pictures

Thanks to the generosity and support of my friends, family, and the local business community, I was able to raise $5200 to help kids in Arizona who have MD.  This means that at least 10 more kids were able to attend this year.  See the smiles on their faces below.  It was truly magical!
